Rhino Paint: Durable, Flexible, & Good Insulating Properties

A problem with most paints is that they require the coating to be redone every couple of years. Paints do fade over time, crack and peel and stop protecting the surface that they are meant to. Rhino paint is a low maintenance wall coating that is flexible and durable and can carry guarantees of as much as 25 years, which is half a lifetime for a home.

Never paint again with Rhino Shield

This paint contains eighty percent of solids and gives a dry film thickness of 8 to 9 mils, which is more than five times what regular paint gives. It contains ceramic microspheres in a formula that includes acrylic urethane. The microspheres are combined with various resins, and this gives the surface toughness while the resins themselves add to the flexibility. The ultimate coating is a rubber-like membrane that adheres well to the substrate and becomes a part of it. The paint also has other additives that increase the blocking of UV rays, give it fire resistance and make it resistant to algae and mildew.

Rhino paint can be used to coat wood, brick, metal, vinyl and stucco and can be used for the exterior surfaces of residences, commercial and industrial buildings. The coating is permeable to vapors, and this allows painted surfaces to breathe. These paints are available in a broad range of colors that can make it easy for any architect to choose from. The paint expands and contracts with the movement of walls, caused by temperature variations. This flexibility ensures that any cracking is prevented. Painted surfaces have lower wall temperatures because of the ceramic spheres while its ability to reflect ultraviolet rays helps to reduce the damage that such rays do cause. It resists salt air corrosion and can therefore safely be used in homes on sea coasts and beaches. Mold, mildew, and algae resistance are now almost a standard in paint manufacture, and rhino paint is far ahead in this ability. The rubber-like flexibility that the paint has allows it to bridge over minor hairline cracks that temperature variations do cause in many building materials.

Rhino paint can be expensive and can cost almost two or three times the cost of normally used paints for exterior surfaces. But, the fact that it lasts approximately four or five times longer makes you believe in the economy of high cost. The ceramic spheres in the paint reflect 90 percent of the sun’s rays leading to cooler walls, and this adds to insulation and the reducing of energy bills. Its use to coat roofs helps to give these surfaces additional protection from rain.

They’ve been found to be very useful for use for shipping container homes. The added insulation provided by the paint reduces the need to put up any insulation, which can greatly reduce available dimensions in the restricted dimensions that such building units have. This paint that contains ceramic microspheres also blocks heat from within the building from escaping, and this can help to reduce heating bills in winters.
